What is Coaching?

Two women having a conversation on a sofa, laughing and smiling, in a cozy room with curtains and textured walls.

Coaching is often misunderstood, and that’s understandable given the wide variety of people calling themselves coaches. Here’s what I am not: I am not a medical provider, mental health professional, nutritionist, dietician, physical therapist, personal trainer, or spiritual guide.

Here’s what I am:

  • A catalyst for your change

  • Someone who walks alongside you and asks the right questions

  • A listener who helps you organize your thoughts

  • A guide in creating actionable plans

  • Your cheerleader as you make progress

  • A connector to other professionals if and when you need them

I do this work because you don’t need a diagnosis or a crisis to seek guidance. Everyone deserves support to make sense of life, stay on course, and move toward their goals. Your goals are unique, and your results are too. From experience, I’ve seen that when people set their minds to something, they can achieve amazing things.

Is Coaching a Good Fit?

Coaching is for people who are ready to engage, reflect honestly, and take action. It may be a good fit if you are:

A woman with curly brown hair and blue eyes smiling, sitting on a green vintage sofa with a brick wall in the background.

Navigating a major transition
Applying to graduate or medical school, preparing for exams or interviews, finishing a thesis, starting a new job, relocating, or adjusting to a new stage of life.

Two women are sitting and talking in a cozy, rustic living room with a large window. One woman with long red hair, wearing glasses, a gray top, and jeans, is gesturing with her hands. The other woman with curly hair, wearing a navy blue dress, is smiling and listening. They are seated near a tan leather couch, with a fluffy white rug on the wooden floor.

Reconsidering your career direction
Exploring a pivot out of your current role, clarifying goals and values, applying for new positions, preparing application materials, interviewing, or negotiating next steps.

Three people laughing and signing a document on a white table in a room with plain white walls.

Overwhelmed by the details
Needing practical systems for time, projects, studying, budgeting, email, or follow-through, with accountability to help things actually get done.

Coaching works best when you show up as you are and choose progress over staying stuck.
